Subscription import
and client setup

First, prepare your account and subscription in the dashboard. Then import the configuration on your device. This guide follows the setup process step by step, covering where to find each option and how to confirm it worked—no prior knowledge of protocol settings needed.

Button labels and menu locations vary between clients. This guide uses general terms such as “Subscription,” “Configuration,” and “Import from URL.” If your interface differs, follow the import options in the dashboard and the prompts in your client; you don’t need to find an exact button match.

Prepare Your Account

Create an Account and Save Your Sign-In Details

Open the account link below to go to the account creation page in the user dashboard. VPNHorse doesn’t require an email address—you can create an account with a username and password. Follow the prompts, check your entries, and create your account. Already have one? Choose “Sign in” in the header instead; there’s no need to create another account.

Save your username and password in a password manager you control before moving on. Your account password is for signing in to the dashboard; the subscription URL you’ll import into your client serves a different purpose. Don’t enter your account password in the client’s subscription URL field or share your sign-in details in public forums. After signing in, make sure the dashboard shows your account information rather than the sign-in page.

There’s no need to add network settings manually on your device yet. First, choose a plan in the dashboard so your account has an active subscription, then get the configuration your client needs. If you see an error while creating an account or signing in, check your username, input method, and password capitalization. If you still can’t get in, see FAQs for account help.

Plans and Orders

Choose a Plan and Review Your Order

After signing in, open the plans section of the dashboard. Compare monthly plans with data packages, then choose an allowance. Monthly plans are ¥9.9/month for 60GB, ¥18/month for 250GB, and ¥28/month for 500GB. Data resets monthly on the day you activate your plan, making these plans a good fit for regular use with a monthly data schedule. The reset date follows your activation date, not the start of each calendar month.

If your usage varies, compare the non-expiring data packages, which remain valid until used up: ¥158/300GB, ¥358/1000GB, and ¥658/3000GB. Choose based on how you use the service, not just the data allowance. Everyday browsing and streaming video use different amounts of data, so consider what you need before picking a package. See the plans page for full pricing and billing details.

On the order page for your chosen plan, check the plan name, total due, and billing method. Then pay using one of the options shown: Alipay, WeChat Pay, or USDT. When payment is complete, return to the dashboard and check the order status. If it hasn’t updated yet, review the existing order before trying again—don’t submit a duplicate just because the page hasn’t changed. Once your subscription is active, continue to the next step.

All plans support unlimited devices and include a 60-day money-back guarantee. If you upgrade a monthly plan before it ends, the price difference is converted into remaining days; review the result shown in the dashboard before proceeding. See the refund policy for details. This guide doesn’t replace the amount shown on your order page, and you don’t need to place another order to import your configuration.

Subscription Setup

Get Your Subscription from the Dashboard

Open the account overview in the user dashboard and check your subscription status and data usage. Once you have an active subscription, look for the import or copy option. If the dashboard offers an import option for your client, choose the matching one. This hands the subscription to your client; it doesn’t purchase another plan or require you to enter routes one by one.

For automatic import, install and open the client first, then return to the dashboard and select the import option. Your browser may ask whether to open an external app; check that it’s the right client before allowing it. If the app doesn’t open, copy the full subscription URL instead. Switch to your client and look for an option to add a subscription from a URL on its subscription or configuration page. Don’t use the dashboard webpage address as the subscription URL.

Your subscription URL contains credentials linked to your account configuration. Keep it safe, just like a password. To set up another device, get the URL from your own dashboard. Don’t share it in public posts, shared documents, or screenshots others can access. When contacting support, describe the import error, device platform, and where it occurred; there’s no need to share the full subscription URL.

If the client says the format isn’t supported after you paste the URL, check that you copied the subscription URL in full and that nothing is missing. Also check whether the dashboard offers an option for your client. Don’t alter characters in the URL or submit it to an unfamiliar third-party conversion site. For more on subscription formats and protocols, see Protocol Details. Then continue setting up your client here.

Set Up Your Device

Import the Subscription into a Client

Open the client section of the dashboard and get a client for your device’s operating system. Android, Windows, macOS, and Linux clients are available to download after signing in; you don’t need a purchased plan to download them. You’ll still need to check your subscription status to use a subscription. The iOS App Store link requires a purchased plan that hasn’t expired. The sections below cover common platforms; use the installers and subscription options provided in the dashboard.

When choosing a client, start with the options listed in the dashboard rather than relying on the app’s name alone. The client needs to support the subscription format and the protocols it uses. Keep the default settings for your first setup. Once the subscription is imported and the connection is verified, adjust the rules as needed. This makes it easier to pinpoint what changed if something goes wrong.

Windows: Add a Subscription on the Configuration Page

Get a subscription-based proxy client for Windows from the dashboard, install it, and open it. First, try the matching automatic import option in the dashboard. If it opens the client, check that the configuration is ready to add, then save it as prompted. If nothing happens, look for a “Configuration,” “Subscription,” or similar page in the client. Choose the option to add a URL, paste the subscription URL you copied, and give the configuration a name you’ll recognize.

After saving, update or download the configuration and wait for the route list to appear. Then select this configuration as the active one. Saving the URL alone doesn’t connect you. If the route list is empty, check the subscription update before repeatedly switching the system proxy. If a system network permission prompt appears, confirm it comes from the client you just installed before allowing it. Then follow the connection verification steps on this page.

macOS: Import and Activate Your Configuration

Get a client for macOS, follow the system prompts to install it, and open it. Find the configuration manager in the main window or menu bar, then use the import option provided by the dashboard. To import manually, choose remote configuration or import from URL, paste the subscription URL, and save. Some clients update automatically after adding a subscription; others require you to click Update. Check that a route list appears to confirm the import is complete.

Make sure the new configuration is selected as active before starting the client. macOS may ask you to allow a network configuration or install a supporting network component; only approve requests related to the client you chose. Importing a configuration file and granting system network permission are separate steps: the first provides routes, while the second lets the client handle traffic in its selected mode. Once both are done, verify the connection in a browser.

Android: Add a Subscription and Allow the VPN Connection

Get the Android client from the dashboard, install it, and open its subscription or configuration manager. Try the dashboard’s automatic import first, or use an option such as Add Configuration or Import from URL in the app. Paste the subscription URL, save, and update. Once the route list appears, select the imported configuration and open the route selection page. A saved configuration doesn’t mean the connection is active.

The first time you connect, Android usually asks you to authorize the VPN connection. Check the app name, then allow the request and check the connection status in the client. If the connection drops when you switch apps or lock your screen, check whether your system restricts the client’s background activity and adjust battery settings according to your device’s instructions. Menu names vary between devices, so you don’t need to follow another device’s exact steps. For more help, see Connection and Troubleshooting.

iOS: Get a Client and Import Your Subscription

Check the iOS option in the dashboard’s client section. If you have a purchased plan that hasn’t expired, you can access the corresponding App Store link. After installing the client, open it and try the import option provided by the dashboard. To add it manually, find the URL import option on the client’s subscription, server, or configuration page. Paste the subscription URL, save, update, and confirm that the routes appear in the app.

When you start the connection, iOS may ask to add a VPN configuration. Follow the system prompt to authorize it. Don’t enter your subscription URL in the manual VPN form in system settings; this guide uses a subscription-compatible client to manage the connection configuration. For help with App Store regions and getting a client, see iOS Clients and App Store Regions. Then continue with the verification steps below.

Get the Client Sign in to the dashboard and choose your platform
Check the Connection

Connect to a Route and Verify It Works

Return to the client and make sure the configuration you just imported is selected. Update the subscription, choose a route from the list, and start the connection. If the client offers rule-based routing and other traffic modes, begin with its default or recommended settings. Don’t change several options at once. On Windows and macOS, also check that the required system proxy or network handling feature is enabled. On mobile, confirm that system VPN authorization is complete.

First, check that the client shows a connected status. Then open a browser and visit the international sites you need to use. Open the target app too, and make sure its pages, content, or sign-in flow load as expected. Rule-based routing may send different sites through different routes, so a system icon or the exit information on one webpage can’t confirm that every app uses the same route. Judge by whether the app you need works as expected.

If the client is connected but the target page won’t open, first confirm that the subscription updated successfully and that data is available. Then try another route suited to your needs and compare. If the browser works but an app doesn’t, check whether the app needs to be restarted and whether the client’s current mode covers its traffic. Keep other settings unchanged while testing. Avoid switching routes, changing rules, and reinstalling the app all at once, or you won’t know what fixed the issue.

You can also disconnect and reopen the same page to compare the client status and access, though browser caching may affect what you see. Reload the content if needed. If the connection drops intermittently, note which app you were using, the route type selected, and any message shown by the client. For details on how route types affect your connection, see Protocol and Route Technical Reference. There’s no need to change protocol settings manually.

Once the connection is verified, keep this working configuration. To add another device later, repeat the steps to get a client, import the subscription, and verify the connection; there’s no device limit. You can follow the same steps again after a client update, a change in network conditions, or a subscription update. If you still can’t connect, check FAQs by topic—account, connection, routes, or billing. For further help, open a support ticket from the Support page and include a redacted error message. Don’t send your password or full subscription URL.
